History of
Barangay Nalsian
In the early 18th century, Nalsian
existed as one barangay only.
According to a historian, Mrs. Dolores
Cayabyab, a retired school teacher, that Nalsian got its name from a story of
two close friends who were so close with each other that they ate, played,
slept, and even wore the same clothes in some special occasions.
But their beautiful story of friendship found
its end when the two friends began to fall in love with only one girl. When the
other friend was caught dating without the knowledge of the other friend,
jealousy tore the friendship apart.
They got so angry with each other that they
were forced to part ways forever. Because of this, “Nalsian” which means “nansian”
or “separated” or “parted ways” in Pangasinan got its name.
Eventually, Nalsian Norte became the name of
the “north portion,” while Nalsian Sur, the “southern portion.”
