In the
last few days, the publicity for Binibining Bayambang 2017 has been drummed up
by the LGU, so the public is bound to ask: “Why expend valuable energy and
resources for a beauty pageant?”
The
simple answer is that Bb. Bayambang 2017 is not just a beauty pageant. Beauty
contests have evolved, and so has the tradition of a pageant night often held as
a culminating event for the fiesta week. We are grooming these young ladies
because we wanted a pageant that goes beyond physical beauty; a pageant in
which personality is an integral part of the qualification. Personality
development is important because each of these ladies will become the official
ambassadress of Bayambang someday, particularly in promoting the development
programs of the municipal government. We wanted well-rounded, modern
Bayambangueñas to represent our town.
This
is the first time something of this caliber happened in Bayambang, so this
makes Bb. Bayambang 2017 the most prestigious beauty pageant the town has ever
held. But in the end, this is all about – as pageant’s theme states – “Beauty
for love and service.” We are banking on beauty in the name of love and service
for our beloved hometown. This is also in line with Mayor Cezar Quiambao’s
desire to make everything in this town new and beautiful, to transform this
town into a modern economic, educational and cultural hub of Northern and
Central Luzon.
