HISTORY OF
BARANGAY DUSOC
A long time ago, our Barangay of Dusoc was
just a sitio of Barangay Wawa. According to our great-great-grandparents in the
Barangay, this place was called Sitio Tumao. In fact, there is a place here
still being called by that name. It is a low part of land which is now located
at the boundary of Barangay Darawey.
According to our very old grandparents in the
barangay, Dusoc was just a forest and no one liked to stay or build a home here
because the presence of wild animals made it too dangerous a place to stay. But
there was one old man whose source of living was hunting and farming. He built
a small hut in this forest and brought his family there where they stayed together.
One day, a group of Spaniards came asking what
the name of the place was, and because the old man could not understand them because
his language was Ilocano, he said, “Ditoy sucsoc,” which means “This place is a
forest.”
From that time on, people called our Barangay
“Barrio Dusoc.”
