Editorial
New Year is
the season of starting afresh, a time of rekindling dashed hopes, a moment for taking
stock of the year that was and making resolutions for the year ahead. As a
simple yet powerful quote puts it, it is the time to “surrender to what is, let
go of what was, and have faith in what will be.”
But the job
of restarting on a clean slate is never easy if there is so much baggage left
the past year to contend with. In the life of this town, moving on is easier
said than done because there is the political division wrought by the past
elections to deal with. This, we can’t deny, only hampers the process of
development we all wish for.
So as not
to get stuck, there is clearly a need to reassess things so we can regain the
right perspective.
We propose
that the way to do this is to focus on our reason for being as an electorate:
to advance the common good.
We believe
that, no matter the political party we each adhere to, we Bayambangueños are one in wishing good for our hometown. Since we are all in this
together, we have no choice but to extend a hand for the uplift of all, to work
together for this purpose in spite of the superficial differences.
A blessed
New Year to one and all.
