(A parent’s aspiration for her children is for them to see contentment in life and be successful), wika ni Ginang Ann Marie L. Castañeda, isang benepisyaryo ng 4Ps na nakatira sa Brgy. Manambong Sur, Bayambang, Pangasinan.
(We are fortunate that we are part of the 4Ps beneficiaries because this will help not only to sustain our needs but also for the education and future of our children. We are blessed with 4 beautiful and healthy children. Our eldest, Zsarhia Yvoune, who graduated Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy at PHINMA St. Jude College Manila. Her loving grandparents, Mr. Rod Cariño and Mrs. Cicelia Cariño, were also among those who supported her education and graduation. Despite the various challenges in life, the couple tirelessly provided their guidance, love, and assistance to ensure that Yvoune would have a bright future. Their sacrifices and dedication became a significant part of Yvoune’s success in her studies. She is currently working as a Nursing Aide at Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center. Our second child is Rhoan Mae, a 2nd year college student who is currently studying at Arellano University. Her dream is to travel to different countries. Third is Camille Joy who is currently studying at Bayambang National High School and is in 12th grade. Last school year, she was awarded with high honors in their class. And our youngest is Charree Gail, who is in 10th grade in the same school as Camille Joy. Recently, she was awarded with high honors and Best in Mathematics. Charree Gail actively participates in different school activities.)
(In the year 2019, we were invited in the City of San Fernando, La Union to receive an award of being the “Huwarang Pamilya” regional winner. We are thankful and honored because, of all the participants, we were selected to receive the award. I became a parent leader for almost 11 years. I also became the PTA President at Manambong Sur Elementary School for 9 years and a Barangay Health Worker for 2 years. Recently, I have been elected as a Chairperson of SLP Cooperative in Bayambang, Pangasinan and part of the Masagana SLP. My husband, Robert is also an active member and became the president of the Farmers' Association in our barangay.)
(When you are a mother, you will be able to handle everything because your children's happiness is more important than the problems arising in this world. Despite all the struggles that we are facing, my husband and I are working together to sustain the needs of the family and our children’s education. My husband and I have the determination to work all day for our children. Sometimes, we also take side job offers if they can add to our family’s income.)
Onc upon a time, when the couple learned that their daughter Zsarhia Yvoune got pregnant, they felt unhappy because they thought that she would not be able to achieve her dreams. But Zsarhia proved that she could still continue studying and finish college. She is currently working as a nursing aide in Tondo, Manila and decided to take the board examination for Respiratory Therapist in February 2025. This is a step in her journey to work abroad someday to sustain the needs of the family in exchange of her parent’s sacrifices.
As the time goes by, Mr. Robert and Mrs. Ann believe that their children will attain their dreams someday not only because of their potentials and achievements in school but also their behavior or characteristics as daughters. A family will face many complex challenges over the years, but they learned that by developing resilience, creating goals, having perseverance, and supporting each other, they will overcome those obstacles in life. These were the thoughts that keep the family stronger and better.
