WEST
A long time ago, there was a place where only a
few lived, so there were very few houses. And because one could see many trees
that bore fruit, the place looked like a forest.
One day an American and a Filipino walked
through the place, and the American saw a fruit which was not familiar to him, so
he asked the Filipino, “What is that?”
Since the Filipino couldn’t speak in English,
he answered back, “Bunga ito.”
“What?” the American said, “Bunga-to”?
From then on the place that looked like a
forest was called “Bongato” by the people.
