HISTORY
OF BARANGAY BANABAN
The name of our barangay, according to the old
folks, came from the banaba tree because this barangay used to have many banaba
trees growing around.
A long time ago, there lived in this place one
family with three children. The younger son was sickly, so the father found a way
to cure his child.
He found an old lady who told him, “Take this
tree, plant it, and your child will be healed.” The father did not believe her,
yet he still followed what the old lady said. He planted the tree, and after a
month, he tried to boil some of the leaves, and gave the concoction for his son
to drink.
After a week, the child got well and grew a
lot stronger, so the father now believed what the lady told him.
And that is how our barangay came to be called
Banaban.
