Review: "True Version of the Philippine Revolution (1899)" by Emilio Aguinaldo

"True Version of the Philippine Revolution (1899)" by Emilio Aguinaldo

I am glad to discover this book. It serves as a proof that Aguinaldo, the founder of the Philippine republic, wrote his own version of the story of the founding of the Philippine nation, perhaps knowing how other narratives would have a different version in various degrees long after he was gone. We should thank him for his foresight. I need to quote the historian Xiao Chua about what happened: "Niloko si Aguinaldo ng mga Espanyol, at pagkatapos nun, niloko siya ng mga Amerikano." Spot on: Aguinaldo was duped, twice. How sad. But this could mean our former colonizers wanted us so badly that they had to rely on subterfuge like some obsessed lovers just to hold on to or claim their prize.
