Atty. Jaime Payomo Junio was the son of Zacarias Junio, former Vice-President of Bayambang, today's equivalent of Vice-Mayor, and Lucia Malicdem Payomo. Payomo's father was Vicente Payomo, who used to be the town's Presidente (today's mayor). According to the Junio descendants, the governor of Pangasinan, at one time, called for him to come to the capitol. Because of his excitement, he came back home barefoot, leaving his slippers at the Urduja House. Upon learning this, the governor had his slippers sent back home. Payomo owned vast tracts of land in town, but he didn't think of having them titled for personal gain, having no idea that the population would someday explode and real property would be scarce. During that time, land could be acquired through an exchange with a mere barang or machete.
(Based on personal communication with former Vice-Mayor Mylvin 'Boying' Junio)
