Notes on Jaime Junio's forebears

Atty .Jaime Payomo Junio was the son of Zacarias Junio, former Vice-President of Bayambang, today's equivalent of Vice-Mayor.

Zacarias Junio's wife was Lucia Malicdem Payomo.

Payomo's father was Vicente Payomo, who used to be the town's Presidente (today's mayor).

True story: Once upon a time, the governor of Pangasinan called him at the capitol. Because of his excitement, he came back home barefoot, leaving his tsinelas at the Urduja House. The governor would send his slippers back home.

Payomo owned vast tracts of land in town, but "agira naninteres"--he didn't think of having them titled for personal gain, perhaps having no idea that someday the population would get so big and real property would be scarce. During that time, land could be acquired through an exchange with a mere barang or machete.
