MAYOR CALIXTO B. CAMACHO 1988-1998
The Honorable Calixto B. Camacho was the next mayor elected after the lifting of the Martial Law in 1981 and the restoration of the civil government in 1986. He was first preceded by Feliciano Casingal, Jr. as officer-in-charge (OIC) of the municipality for some time and Miguel C. Matabang as acting Mayor until Mayor Camacho's election in 1988. He served as Mayor of Bayambang for three terms which is equivalent to nine years. As head of the municipality, he was most admired and well-loved by his compatriots because of his fatherly and very humble ways. During his term, he has accomplished much for the progress of the municipality. Among his accomplishments were as follows: the concreting and asphalting of Buayaen and Wawa road, Poblacion to the Railroad station road, Bayambang to Basista road, the road going to Bayambang District Hospital, and the streets of Quezon Boulevard and M.H del Pilar, the concreting of barangay roads, construction of the Rural Health Center and Barangay Rural Health Units, the repair of the Calvo Bridge, the construction of waiting sheds in Poblacion, the construction of Phase 1 of the public market, the construction of the Telecommunication Building and Facilities, and many more.
