Waldy Ferrer-Canalita
Private School Administrator
Waldy Ferrer-Canalita is a licensed professional educator and school administrator with more than 18 years of experience in academic leadership and school management. She has served in both public and private educational institutions, handling classroom instruction, administration, curriculum planning, and student development.
She finished her primary education at Bayambang Central School in 1983 and completed high school at Pangasinan State University Laboratory High School in 1987. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree, graduating cum laude, from Pangasinan State University - College of Education (Bayambang) in 1991.
Mrs. Canalita later pursued graduate studies in education and guidance counseling. She took Master’s units in Language Education at the University of the Philippines College of Education from 2004 to 2006. She completed her Master’s in Educational Management through the Open University program of Polytechnic University of the Philippines from 2016 to 2019, and earned a Master’s in Guidance and Counselling from Philippine Christian University in 2022. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education major in Educational Management at the same university.
Her teaching career began at Divine Grace School, Novaliches, Quezon City, where she worked as a librarian, substitute teacher, and classroom teacher.
She later joined the Department of Education and taught at Bacundao Elementary School, Malasiqui, Pangasinan, handling a multi-grade class in a remote area. In 1994, she transferred to Bani Elementary School, Bayambang, Pangasinan, where she handled Grade 4 pupils and became active in school programs and activities.
She eventually returned to Divine Grace School and steadily rose through the ranks, serving as Teacher-In-Charge, Registrar, Assistant Principal, and later Principal, a position she continues to hold today. Her work includes supervising teachers and students, preparing school programs and academic activities, coordinating with parents, and helping implement school improvement plans.
Mrs. Canalita has also contributed to educational publishing. She co-authored several instructional books released by Brilliant Creations Publishing Inc., including Tuklas Lahi 5 Serye sa Araling Panlipunan (2015), Bukal ng Lahi 4 Serye sa Wika at Pagbasa (2018), and Pagpapakatao at Pag-unlad 6 Serye sa Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (2024).
Throughout her career, she has received recognition for her work in education and youth development. Among her awards are the BSP National Merit Award in 2015 and the BSP Bronze Medal of Merit in 2014. She has also participated in numerous seminars, conferences, and leadership trainings related to education, school administration, and student development.
Mrs. Canalita remains active in professional and civic organizations, including the Reading Association of the Philippines, Samahan ng mga Manunulat na Pilipino Inc., Boy Scouts of the Philippines, and Soroptimist International. She also serves in leadership roles within private school organizations in Quezon City.
