Brief History: BAYAMBANG POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE

BAYAMBANG POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE: MAKING HISTORY FOR A BETTER FUTURE

Bayambang has long been known as a cradle of education. Since the founding of the Bayambang Normal School-now the Pangasinan State University- the town has produced thousands of leachers and professionals in other fields such as nursing, information technology, etc. Needless to say, education plays an Important role in the history of the municipality. After all, what better way is there to safeguard a better future than through education.

For decades, Bayambang was a promising option for incoming college students from all over Pangasinan, especially those wanting to pursue a career in education. This poses a problem because the Pangasinan State University can only accommodate a limited number of students every year. Out of 12 high schools in Bayambang, there is only one university where students can continue their studies for the achievement of their dreams of gaining a diploma. This has led to the realization of the Local Government Unit that, despite the quality and competence of the PSU in producing professionals, the municipality lacked higher education institutions for Bayambangueños. Thus, for the first time since the founding of the Bayambang Normal School in 1922. Bayambang will be opening a new college. The LGU Is establishing the Bayambang Polytechnic College -- an LGU-owned and operated college that aims to provide comprehensive, high quality, collaborative, affordable. and accessible opportunities that empower learners to meet lifelong educational. professional, and personal goals, as well as to drive the engine of economic development in the municipality.

As of this writing, the Province of Pangasinan has three local universities and colleges that are recognized by the Commission on Higher Education. These are the Binalatongan Community College in San Carlos City. the University of Eastern Pangasinan in Binalonan, and the Urdaneta Cordillera University in Urdaneta City. Bayambang envisions to have the same recognition as the LGU works towards creating a better future for the youth through accessible, affordable, and quality education.

The Bayambang Polytechnic College (BPC) offers four (4) degree courses. namely Bachelor of Science in Agri-Business Management, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, Bachelor in Culture and Arts Education, and Bachelor in Physical Education, and five (5) vocational programs, namely Associate in Agribusiness Management. Associate in Entrepreneurship. Computer Systems Servicing NC II, Agro-entrepreneurship NC II. and Customer Services NC II. Now, there is no need for college students to enroll in universities or colleges outside the town or province as the opportunity has been brought closer to them. This means that students no longer need to worry about their daily fares, payment for dorms or apartments, and being away from their families as their need for a college that offers their desired course is already here.

The courses offered in the BPC are some of the most in-demand courses after graduation. Agriculture is a large part of the college as Bayambang is an agricultural town, and the LGU desires for the locals to become adept with knowledge and technical expertise which will help them and the town grow socio-economically in the long run. This will help Bayambang win in its Revolution against Poverty that is first and foremost a program for the betterment of the lives of the people in the municipality.

In the battle to fight poverty, education is the most important tool for progress and sustainability. It is not a privilege, but a right that can never be taken away from an individual. Thus, this college is here to make history for a better future for the people of Bayambang.
