Bayambang is a 1st class municipality in the southern part of the province of Pangasinan in Region I. It covers an area of about 143.94 km² and is politically subdivided into 77 barangays. It has a population of around 200,000. Founded in 1614, Bayambang once served as the fifth capital of the First Philippine Republic and has a rich historical heritage. The economy is largely driven by agriculture—especially onions and corn—making it known as the “onion capital of Pangasinan” and the “corn belt of northern Luzon,” while tourism is bolstered by landmarks such as the towering bamboo statue of Saint Vincent Ferrer, recognized by the Guinness World Records at the tallest in the world. It also holds the Guinness World Record for the longest barbecue.
