I am elated to learn that our town has produced a writer of this caliber.
Emiliano Santos Sr., originally from Brgy. Cadre Site, used to be an editor of "Philippines Free Press" and "Manila Times," according to his surviving daughter, Zenaida T. Santos.
According to grand-daughter, Jocelyn Santos-Espejo, Mr. Santos once attempted to write the history of Bayambang, but his work got lost due to a great flood, together with all his papers.
I wish someone has surviving copies of his writings.
Apart from being a writer, he became a widely admired orator and a well-loved Municipal Councilor for three terms.
I hope to discover more about Santos through your comments, particularly about his being a distinguished man of letters. Breaking through as an editor in Manila's publishing world of cutthroat competition is no mean feat.
