This Successful Couturier in the US is from Bayambang!
Did you know that a couture designer based in Orange County, California with 522,000 following on Facebook is from Bayambang?
Yes, his name is Christian Nephi Garcia, also known as Designer Daddy on social media.
He started out as a missionary for his church, the Church of Latter-Day Saints, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he met his American wife, Bethanie.
They eventually moved to Orange, California, where he found a job and lost jobs, yet after going through it all, persisted in pursuing his dream of creating his fashion design business.
And one day, he did. He put up shop with the name Designer Daddy.
In 2016, a video of his became viral because it featured his entire family (his wife and three kids) touring Disneyland in impressive Disney costumes that he himself made.
A fourth-generation dressmaker, he said he learned how to sew dresses from both his grandmother and uncle. Incidentally, the famous fashion designer from this town, Rusty Lopez, is his uncle.
His love for cosplay also inspired him to make faithful copies of Disney costumes and, what's more, they are not only high-quality but offer a twist: they come as normal dress at first then magically transform in shape and form as Disney costumes right before your eyes!
After the viral video, Nephi reported to have received thousands of emails everyday from clients who had to be on the waiting list for months or even years on end just for their queries to be entertained.
Because of his story, particularly his impressive 'transformation dresses,' he has also since guested in various TV shows and websites across America. His business has also brought him to Hollywood and in many different locations around the world.
With his family having grown to five kids (four boys, one girl), Nephi went home this year thinking of retiring here and transferring his fashion designing business back home.
